Quick and Simple Hat

Ready to move beyond flat knitting? Join us to create the "Quick and Simple Hat," a beautiful design by Shannon Dunbabin tailored for those looking to grow their skills.

This project features Cascade 128 Superwash, a 100% Merino wool that is both buttery-soft and machine washable. Want a different look? Students have the option to trade out the Cascade yarn for the stunning Malabrigo Vientos. Because these are bulky-weight yarns, your hat will grow quickly, providing almost instant gratification.

Prerequisites:
This is a "next steps" class. Students should already have a general knowledge of knitting basics, including how to cast on, knit, and bind off independently.

In this class, you will learn:
  • Circular Knitting: How to join in the round without twisting and manage stitches on a circular needle.
  • DPN Mastery: Transitioning from circular needles to double-pointed needles (DPNs) as the crown decreases.
  • Shaping Techniques: Executing specific decreases to create a professional, tapered shape.
  • Sizing for All: Following instructions for three sizes, fitting head circumferences from 16" to 22".
  • Professional Finishing: Completing a secure bind-off and weaving in ends for a polished look.
Materials & Requirements:
  • Included: Your class kit provides the circular needles needed for the body of the hat.
  • Student Provided: Please bring your own set of Double Pointed Needles (DPNs) for the crown shaping.
This class is a fantastic way to bridge the gap between beginner and intermediate knitting while working with high-quality, natural fibers.

Instructor Bio: A lifelong maker, I first picked up a crochet hook as a child and haven’t stopped creating since. My passion for fiber arts covers everything from the precision of quilting and embroidery to the rhythmic craft of spinning my own wool. For the past eight years, knitting has been a central part of my creative life. I truly believe that crafting is one of the best ways to find balance and relieve stress, and I can’t wait to help you discover that same sense of calm through creating.
