Fingerless Mitts

Take the mystery out of double-pointed needles with this beginner-friendly, "quick-knit" fingerless mitts workshop. Small-round projects like mittens and socks are the perfect way to build your knitting repertoire, and using bulky yarn ensures you'll see your progress immediately. This class focuses on providing a solid foundation for seamless construction without the need for complex flat-knitting seams.

Prerequisites:
This is a "next steps" class. Students should already have a general knowledge of knitting basics, including how to cast on, knit, and bind off independently.

In this class, you will learn:
  • Small-Round Foundation: Step-by-step guidance on how to cast on in the round, distribute stitches evenly across DPNs, and join them without twisting.
  • DPN Mastery: Techniques for working with double-pointed needles, including how to rotate your active needle while maintaining even tension to avoid "ladders."
  • Seamless Shaping: How to execute Make 1 (M1) increases, a discreet technique for creating the thumb gusset.
  • Finishing with Style: Mastering a secure bind-off that maintains the right amount of stretch for a comfortable fit.
Materials & Prep:
  • Included: Your class kit includes the pattern and bulky yarn.
  • Required: Students will need to provide their own DPNs or arrive early to purchase them at the shop before the session begins.
